ਅੱਜ ਅਸੀਂ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਵਾਰੀ। ਭਾਈ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੈਂਟਾ – ਇੱਕ ਨਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਮਰ ਹੈ। ਚਲੋ, ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰੀਏ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ।

ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜਾਣੀਏ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਬਾਰੇ। 10 ਅਗਸਤ 1968 ਨੂੰ, ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਪੁਰੀ ਮੋਹੱਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ, ਪਿਤਾ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਸਵਾਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਬੀਬੀ ਮਹਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਇੱਕ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਲਿਆ। ਉਹ ਸੀ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੈਂਟਾ। ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਰਿਸ਼ ਹੋਈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਚਝਲਵਾੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ। ਸਕੂਲਿੰਗ ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਉੱਭਰੇ। ਕਲਪਨਾ ਕਰੋ, ਇੱਕ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਜੋ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਹਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੇ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵੱਲ ਮੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਭਾਈ ਪੈਂਟਾ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖੀ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਖਾਲਸਾ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ। ਵੱਡੇ ਭਰਾ ਭਾਈ ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਾਲਾ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ, ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਭਰਾ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਟਾਡਾ ਕਾਨੂਨ ਅਧੀਨ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਤੀਜੇ ਭਰਾ ਭਾਈ ਰਾਜਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਵਾਰੀ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੋਚੋ, ਇੱਕ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਨੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ – ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਆਮ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ।

ਜੂਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੰਬਰ 1984 ਦੇ ਘਟਨਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਲੂੰਧਰੇ। ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਿੰਦਾ, ਭਾਈ ਸੁਖਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਖਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਿਮਾ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੂਨ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਲੈਣਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਹੋਈ ਭਾਈ ਪੈਂਟਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ! ਟਾਰਗੈੱਟ ਸਨ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਲੀਡਰ ਲਲਿਤ ਮਾਕਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦਾਸ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੜਕਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਸੀ ਇੱਕ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਜੋ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਬਣ ਗਈ।

ਦਿੱਲੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਖਾੜਕੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਫਿਰ ਕੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਪੈਂਟਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ, ਮਾਤਾ, ਨਾਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਥਰਾ, ਭਾਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਿਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਖਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਖੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਾਡਾ ਅਧੀਨ ਤਿਹਾੜ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਇਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਭਾਈ ਪੈਂਟਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਲੱਭ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਏ। ਉੱਥੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨੋਚਾਹਲ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਖਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲੇ ਟਾਇਗਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ।

ਭਾਈ ਪੈਂਟਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਸਵਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਲਾਦੀਨਪੁਰ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵੱਲ ਰੁਖ ਕੀਤਾ, ਸਿੱਖ ਕਤਲੇਆਮ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਐਕਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਭਾਈ ਸਵਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲਸਾ, ਭਾਈ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਟਵਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਾਦਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਾਲਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰੇਟਰ ਕੈਲਾਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੌਜ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ 14 ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਘਾਟ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ। ਇਹ ਸੀ ਬਦਲੇ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ।

ਫਿਰ ਆਇਆ ਅਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਲੈਕ ਥੰਡਰ। ਭਾਰਤੀ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਭਾਈ ਪੈਂਟਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਲੜਾਈ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ। 9 ਮਈ 1988 ਨੂੰ, ਸੀਆਰਪੀ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਹਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ, ਡੀਆਈਜੀ ਵਿਰਕ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਹ ਜੰਗ 9 ਤੋਂ 18 ਮਈ ਤੱਕ ਚੱਲੀ। ਆਖਰ 15 ਮਈ ਨੂੰ, ਭਾਈ ਪੈਂਟਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ – ਭਾਈ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਥਾਂਡੇ, ਭਾਈ ਦਿਲਭਾਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਗਾ, ਭਾਈ ਜਾਗੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੰਗਲ ਲੁਬਾਣਾ, ਭਾਈ ਅਮਰੀਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੱਟੀਵਿੰਡ, ਭਾਈ ਅਮਰੀਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੁਕਤਸਰ, ਭਾਈ ਦਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਰਦਿਓ, ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ।

Biography in English of Bhai Surjit Singh Penta

Today we will talk about a warrior Singh who sacrificed his life for the Sikh community. Bhai Surjit Singh Penta – a name that is immortal in history. Let us start with the story of his life.

First, let us know about the birth of Bhai Sahib. On 10 August 1968, in the Gobindpuri Mohalla of Delhi, a child was born to father Sardar Swaran Singh and mother Bibi Mahinder Kaur. He was Bhai Surjit Singh Penta. But he was brought up in the village of Chajhalwadi in Amritsar district. He did his schooling from Khalsa Senior Secondary School in New Delhi, and from school he emerged as a brilliant player. Imagine, a young man who is an expert in sports, but life turned him towards the battlefield.

Bhai Penta's entire family was imbued with Gursikhism. His family made great sacrifices for the freedom of the Khalsa Raj. The elder brother Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala attained martyrdom, another brother Giani Harcharan Singh was imprisoned under the TADA Act. The third brother Bhai Rajwinder Singh Raja also attained martyrdom at a young age. Just think, so many struggles in one family – this was not normal life.

The events of June and November 1984 broke the hearts of the Sikhs. At this time, Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha and Bhai Nirmal Singh Nima held a meeting in Delhi. They decided that the blood of the Sikhs must be avenged. And this meeting took place in Bhai Penta's house itself! The targets were Congress leaders Lalit Maken and Arjun Das, who had incited violence against the Sikhs. This was a plan that became history.

The Delhi Police came to know that the Khadku Singhs were visiting Bhai Sahib's house. Then what, they arrested Bhai Penta's father, mother, grandfather and maternal uncle. Bhai Harinder Singh Mathra, Bhai Nirmal Singh Nima and Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi along with the entire family were tortured. Later they were locked up in Tihar Jail under TADA. It was at this time when the police were looking for Bhai Penta, he reached Sri Darbar Sahib. There, on the orders of Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal, he joined the Khalistan Bhindranwale Tiger Force.

Bhai Penta and Bhai Swaranjit Singh Aladinpur headed towards Delhi to punish the culprits of the Sikh massacre. Their actions did not let the police sleep. Bhai Swaranjit Singh Khalsa, Bhai Avtar Singh Patwari and Bhai Surjit Singh Gadli conducted many operations together. Once, together with Bhai Paramjit Singh Kala, they killed 14 people in an army officer's party in Greater Kailash. This was the fire of revenge.

Then came Operation Black Thunder. The Indian forces again desecrated Sri Darbar Sahib. Bhai Penta reached there with his comrades and started the fight. On 9 May 1988, while engaging in a fight with the CRP, he killed several soldiers and injured DIG Virk. This war lasted from 9 to 18 May. Finally, on 15 May, Bhai Penta was martyred along with his comrades – Bhai Karaj Singh Thande, Bhai Dilbagh Singh Baga, Bhai Jagir Singh Nangal Lubana, Bhai Amrik Singh Chattiwind, Bhai Amrik Singh Muktsar, Bhai Dalbir Singh Dhardeo, Bhai Kulwant Singh and others.

Thus on 15 May 1988, this fighter of the Sikh Students Federation and Bhindranwale Tiger Force attained martyrdom. Friends, this story reminds us that history is made only through sacrifices.
